*Last reminder! Today’s the final day that the sign-up is open for the Postcard Project Cookie Swap. I’ve been in contact with Cookies For Kids Cancer and found out that Glad will again be matching $1 per cookie we swap, so it’s an added bonus to be able to raise money for kids’ cancer simply by swapping cookies! Last year we raised over $3500 and I’d love to beat that this year. Click here for all the details about the swap.
I had my second…well sort of my third (more on that later)…baby shower yesterday! This one was in Abilene, thrown by Den’s cousins, Andrea, Jessica, and Katerina (with help from their sister, Tessa, from afar – she’s in SE Asia on a mission trip!). Andrea was the ring leader and you are just going to die when you see the creativity and work she put into it! I will be blogging my showers soon, but here’s a photo of the beautiful Andrea with her adorable youngest daughter, Reagan. Joshua will be just a little less than a year younger when he’s born, and it’s so nice that he will have some kiddos his age to play with during the holidays when we visit. :)
We got so much stuff that we really needed, and I feel blessed all over again to have married Dennis because not only did I get him, the best husband of all time according to me, but I got his incredible family too. I can’t say they’re the best family of all time without betraying my own…but yes I can because they are. LOL! They are just wonderful! So loving and generous. With one shower left to go, I think we now have all the big things covered (well, except for the pricy cloth diapers I want, but we can buy those with help from gift cards we’ve received, and using the 10% coupon Target sent us) and only need some little things before his arrival. That is a good feeling!
Today I’m going to the social security office to finally, finally, get my last name changed on my social security card. Yeah, it’s been thirteen years since our wedding and I never did that, even though I’ve gone by Miller and had my name as Miller on my driver’s license since 2000. I thought I better get it done just to make sure it creates no problems when we turn in Joshua’s birth certificate info and my social security number doesn’t match my name. LOL! It will be a big relief to finally have that done. I can be the worst procrastinator.
We have our “Happiest Baby on the Block” class tomorrow evening. Things are all coming together. Which is good, because time is running out! Five weeks or less, people!
So glad you have just about everything you need for Mr. Joshua!
Thirteen years without switching your name on the SS card? Holy buckets, woman! ;-) I can’t believe you haven’t had any problems yet!

I think not having problems is why I never did it – I needed to be forced! It caused a problem with filing our taxes, so I enter my name as Davis-Miller which did the trick, and then when I got hired at the PO they just said I really needed to get that done but went ahead and hired me anyway. It did prevent me from joining a credit union because they wanted me to update my name on my SS card first, but I just joined another bank instead b/c it was easier. haha!

How awesome! You are still looking great! Time certainly IS running out! Can’t imagine how you’ve survived without that name change, Girl. Good to know getting ready for a baby can help motivate you to getter done. Take good care. You always look beautiful. Joshua will be so blessed to have you both as parents. XO

It went fine! It was a long wait but once my number was called, they just needed my ID, my old SS card, and my marriage liscence. I came over-prepared b/c the website said if it had been more than 2 years that you’d need documents proving your identity from before your name changed, and from recently as well, so I brought a W-2 from before I was married, one from the year after, and last year’s. They didn’t even ask for it but I’d suggest going over-prepared as well just in case b/c you don’t want to have to go twice. It took about 2 hours from the time I arrived to the time I left, with only maybe 10 minutes of that being the time it took to get it changed.

So wonderful that you have everything you need – I never used cloth diapers so I have no idea how expensive they are – I got a package of them at my baby shower, but just ended up using them as spit up rags!
You look beautiful – in the final stretch! (and keep those comments that I am younger and thinner coming – it’s motivating to me!)

Cloth diapers themselves aren’t too expensive but I am getting the BumGenius ones to keep things simple and they are $35 for two and I need to have a supply of at least 24 (I have five so far). I got some regular cloth diapers and will be using those for spit up rags too. :) And you are looking younger and thinner every day! I’m excited to join you in weight loss. :)

Glad to know I’m not the only one that’s never legally changed the name. It’s almost 7 years and I just never got around to it. Whoops!

I just had to show my marriage certificate in order to get my name changed on my liscence. But it would have been better if I was forced to go there soon after b/c I just put it off way too long! So glad to finally have that done. :) My experience was fine – just a long wait.
