This is a twist on seasoned crackers for those that enjoy a spicy kick. I make a triple batch of seasoned crackers every December to include in my goodie bags with assorted sweets, and this year I made a second spicy batch for those that like things on the spicy side. They are great on their own as a snack, but as with the seasoned crackers, one of my favorite things to do with these crackers is to sprinkle them on soup as a garnish, especially tomato soup or chili. And let’s not forget the Super Bowl is coming up, right? These would be perfect for the heat-lovin’, snack-eatin’ guests at your party.
Spicy Ranch Crackers

2 (12 oz) bags oyster crackers
1 (13.7 oz) box cheese crackers
1 (1 oz) envelope spicy ranch dressing mix
1 (1 oz) envelope ranch dressing mix
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 cup vegetable oil
Mix crackers in a large bowl. Sprinkle dressing mix and spices over the crackers, then pour oil over it all. Mix until the oil is absorbed. Cover and store overnight for the flavors to develop.

I used to make something like this all the time. Instead of oil, I would use Orville Reddinbacher popcorn oil/butter stuff. I’d add pretzels and bugles too. So, so good!

I am trying these! I make a similar one each Christmas for gifts but they just use regular saltines. I stick them in a large tupperware and turn them every hour for a while. Everyone loves them and they seem like they are baked. Everyone is surprised the aren’t. I am trying them with the spicy ranch. Just be careful… it is easy to eat a whole recipe in a few days. I just pretend they aren’t soaked in oil. lol

Super bowl munchies!!!! Question, doesn’t the oil make the crackers… moist and soggy?

Not at all, they’re crisp and crunchy. The oil just helps the coating stick to the crackers.

I make ranch crackers all the time, but I use those mini cheese filled ritz bitz as the cracker, and I don’t make them spicy…but I bet spicy is a wonderful twist. Never thought of it! I think I might change it up next time I make them!! Great idea topping chili with them!

These are like CRACK! I have a similar recipe using buttered popcorn oil – you’d think such a huge batch would last awhile, but NOPE! Gone in a flash. Pinning your version to try next time! :-)

I have had these and they are great!! My hubs and I fought over the last of the batch…lol!! I am making goulash this week and I now need to make these crackers, they would go perfect together :)

Well don’t cha ya know that make a very similar cracker? I use the plain and lowly saltine, we love that spicy salty crunch. Next time around I’ll have to try it with different crackers (cheez-its are the Baby boy’s fav).

mmm this sounds yum! I haven’t seen the spicy ranch packets but I’ll be on the lookout. Love the different cracker colors and the seasonings. Now this is something I can definitely make!
