Thankful Thursday #92: happy Thanksgiving!

Dad: Nearing food coma. Me: devising a plan to steal the last roll. Danielle: I hate the world. Lacey: Life is beautiful!

I wanted to write something epic today, on the holiday centered around being thankful.  But I have written so many Thankful Thursdays that I think all the epic has left me!  I have no epic, I only have simple.  Today, I’m thankful for so so much.  But in the words of my friend, Stephanie, “my ultimate thanks goes to God.”  For without Him, I would have nothing to be thankful for.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday today and that you have much to be thankful for.  I’ll  leave you with a poem…

Thanksgiving Poem (author unknown)

Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn’t sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned, the dark meat and white.
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation,
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round
“Til all of a sudden…I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees…
Happy Eating To All..Pass The Cranberries, Please.

***
May your stuffing be tasty, your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes n’ gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious.. may your pies take the prize.
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!

  8. Your vintage family photos always make me smile. If I were brave enough to post any from my youth, I would resemble your sister, Danielle, and have a scowl on my face, probably thinking, “What, we need a traditional Thanksgiving portrait. I am so above this.” LOL

Hope you had a great day!
