Sorry, I have to!

I was so going to post a recipe today since I haven’t done one all week, but our cousin, Sherry, shared some pics she took at the wedding reception and hers are soooo much better than my dark and grainy ones that I had to show you guys a couple, especially the cake since you can actually see what it looked like in real life in her photo.  I promise I’ll be back on the recipes bandwagon next week!

Am I allowed to be really pleased with my own cake? Because I so am!  Please click to enlarge and marvel that I managed to get the corners & edges so crisp on the buttercream–that took hours and hours and I was ready to scream before it finally started to look the way I wanted it to.  But this photo is almost enough to make me renounce my “last wedding cake ever!” proclamation that came before it was finished.  Like the pain of childbirth (so I hear), it was quickly forgotten and now I’m thinking about doing it again. Silly, silly me.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!  See you on the flip side!

  6. Absolutely love what you did….I don’t even dream of attempting something like this. Any tips on your diagonal decoration? What size tip etc???
Do you have a stand that tips the cake? If not, how on earth did you angle yourself to do that so perfectly. Please do try another….you have the talent.

  8. Um yes, more wedding cake posts are totally justified because this cake looks Fan.Tas.Tic. I think it’s awesome that you’re ready to do this again. I cannot say I feel the same way about childbirth. Maybe in another year or so :)

  10. Yes, you should be proud. It’s a beautiful cake. I wouldn’t want to be the one cutting into it. And I have to laugh because I knew this would not be your last cake ;)

    • Well I will always be the crazy cake lady but I do hope this is my last wedding cake. But I too kinda doubt it. Someone will talk me into it. And I know if a miracle happens and Dani ever gets married, I’ll be making her cake. She always has said she’ll never get married so if she does, it will be a HUGE deal. Also…my little sis is in the middle of a divorce so maybe some day she’ll need another cake too. I just hope she spends more time thinking about her choice next time. :( It’s very sad b/c of Owen.

        • He’s here right now (watching a movie to help get him to sleep) and seems to be doing pretty well but he’s the type that wouldn’t let on if he was sad, he would cry by himself in his room. Crud, I gotta say something happy b/c all this talk is making me sad! Well we played charades tonight with friends and Owen played with the kids in a different room but he did come in to help me act out “doublemint gum” by chewing gum and acting like my twin. It was a lot of fun. :) He’s so hilarious, he says the funniest things I really need to write them down b/c I just can’t keep up and can’t remember them later. He made me laugh so freaking hard tonight! Love that little guy.

    • I’m glad that part doesn’t bother me at all or I couldn’t do it either. I’m so happy to have people eat and enjoy my cake, all the hours spent on it is totally worth their enjoyment for me.
